Brandon H. Glendale, AZ. Sedona has incredible hiking and is only 1.5 hours from Phoenix. April is best month for Sedona, not too hot, not cold. Get trail map from Emmitt Barks Cartography, around town or try on internet. Flagstaff also has tons of hiking but will be cooler, maybe breezy. Flagstaff is 2 hour easy drive on freeway. Emmitt Barks also makes a map for Flagstaff area hiking. There are numerous areas to hike within 1 hour drive of Phoenix. I suggest purchasing an Arizona Gazetteer (map book) and research wilderness areas. You can then use the internet to identify parking and trailheads. Also lots of hiking in the White Mountains.
